Akarri comes from the Japanese word ‘akari’, meaning ‘light’. Not just the light you see, but in fact, the light you feel. That feeling when you the sun peaks the blades of your window shade or that nostalgic warmth when you hug your college roommate.

Founder

Ashley, also known as Momo, is just the friend you need and for many, a life navigator. Over the last couple of years, she’s found her ‘self’ in NYC through learned experiences, both good and bad, and made some lifelong friendships in the city that never sleeps.

Her mission for Akarri is simple; give women a shared platform to grow, learn, and succeed alongside one another. Like many of her role models, such as her mother, she acts with selfless intent, celebrates others’ wins with no expectation of a return, and truly cares to see people smile.

Whether you’re new to the city or been here for 5 years, give us a chance, and maybe you’ll find the sisterhood you’ve been longing for.
